Saying Goodbye to Thailand
Day 10 Monday, April 9, 2018 Pattaya and Airport
The view from our 4th floor hotel. On our final morning, we visited this pool, and also went looking for lunch. But that ended poorly...
We ate our incredible buffet breakfast there at the right, with this beautiful atrium to enjoy.
We then wandered to other parts of our hotel, and the views were super. They had about five swimming pools there.
Time for us to relax at the main pool.
I actually swam in the pool!
For lunch, we decided to take the shuttle to the far end of the bay to where we THOUGHT there would be some cool places to eat. Instead, it was the opposite - a run-down area. Funny to again see all the electrical wires that we had seen in Bangkok and other cities.
So, we decided to board the shuttle again to move farther back toward our hotel, but they would not pick us up. We would say where we were headed, but the driver would say something in Thai that we didn't understand, but the upshot was they did not wish to take us.
Therefore, we committed sacrilege and walked to a Burger King we had seen, because we had coupons from another Burger King where we had eaten during a roadside stop on our drive to Pattaya two days earlier. This is a photo of their "tempura" that we ordered along with a pork Whopper.
After the lunch, we were able to get a shuttle back to our hotel. We thought we would be waiting for a couple hours, but Nu was there and indicated that we could go early to the airport, with him and Leslie. During our short hotel wait, I took another photo of the attractive atrium garden, complete with the waterfall at the far left. Nu had been working all morning to arrange a trip for Leslie to Northern Thailand and change her travel plans. Poor guy was tired, and he confided in us that he thought Leslie was getting in way over her head in wanting to take this trip on her own given how much assistance she required every step of the way during our 8 days.
My final picture is this huge display at the airport. Full of Thai legends, but I don't remember them.
We arrived at the airport several hours early, too early even to check in for our flight. We just had to sit and read and talk to people for a LONG time. But everything went okay and so did our flights home. We watched movies, and ate and drank.
Fabulous trip!
